The Bird and the Tree

A little bird did spread its wings

And flew into this world

Curious what love could mean

There was so much that it had heard

The flight led it through sunny skies

And warm and happy days

But then it had to flee and hide

When threats did come in many ways

It was chased by mighty eagles

And terrified by thunderstorms

It felt lonely, cried for help

Wished for some loving warmth

Exhausted and resigning

It was almost giving up

It landed on a tree and hoped

That pain would finally stop

After a while, the bird calmed down

And it looked where it was

It was so peaceful and so nice

What could have been the cause?

Out of the blue, it heard a voice

So tender and so warm

“Don’t be afraid my little bird

I’ll shelter you from harm

The journey was so long and now

Enjoy, relax and rest

Here in my crown, I offer you

A stable and warm nest

My roots are deep, my trunk is strong

Nothing will harm you anymore

I’ll hold you tight when rough winds blow

Keep you from falling on the floor”

I rub my eyes while waking up

Was this only a dream?

Then feel your strong, embracing arms

And your love’s powerful stream.

You are the tree I finally found

When I felt lost and all alone

You give me shelter and your heart

You’ve turned out as my home

In Love and Light
