Song of the Day – Madonna Week

The weekend is close and having a Madonna week made it clear to me from the beginning which song to post for today. One of my absolute favorites of her earlier days. That one was also part of the soundtrack of the movie Desperately Seeking Susan in which Madonna played a part. Lots of memories during the time when the single was released. The second one is another one from her great True Blue album. Happy Friday!

80s, Song of the Day

As someone who grew up in the 80s (and then completely convinced that “being just like Madonna” was a viable career aspiration) I have to say YES. So many YES!!! True Blue was the FIRST EVER tape I got in my entire life – along with my first walkman – so it’s forever cemented in my memory as nothing short of epic. Though I feel like I need to add that, unbelievably, through a complete coincidence, I ended up with an even older Madonna tape and fortuitously discovered a song that I feel is completely underappreciated called Think of Me:

That’s such a cool reply, you totally made my day 🙂 🙂 I think Madonna is an amazing artist. Although I have to admit I’m not a fan of her current music, you can’t help but admire her tenacity and ability to stay current throughout the decades. Personally, I’ll always love her 80s music the most – but then I pretty much love almost everything 80s the most LOL

I think she simply went with her age. I don’t think it would fit if she still produced songs like 30 years back. But I agree absolutely that the 80’s songs are my favorites too 😊 That way I am even more glad that I picked those and pleased you 😀

I think she’s just incredibly skilled at adapting to the current taste in music. And I don’t think anyone else has been as consistently successful for as long as she has, so despite the fact that I’m really not a fan of much of what she’s produced in the last couple of decades (with a few exceptions), I still think she’s amazing 🙂
