Tidbit Tuesday – My Daughter And The Condom

When your daughter is developing very well for her age but she doesn’t realize what effect she could have to the male adult’s world then you need to have an eye on her, right? Most of all when it is your oldest child and you have zero experience with teenagers who grow into their sexual lives. When my daughter was 14 she got two baby guinea pigs. about 3 weeks after she got them they started scratching themselves down to their skin. The veterinarian diagnosed: acarians. What does that have to do with condoms? Just wait because I was in charge for the second treatment. It was over New Year and my daughter was in Vienna with her best friend at my sister’s. I went into her room and tried to locate the medicine from her door. My daughter’s room was a complete mess not so well-organized and I tried to figure out the safest way over that show-jumping course. I made it to the place where IΒ  thought it could be… failure. I looked here and there found empty bottles, cookie packages, dirty clothes under other dirty clothes but no medicine. I was talking to myself and starting a rant looking at all this mess. I don’t like to open drawers but I could not reach my daughter and the pigs had to get their medication on that day. So I started another journey towards the first drawer, and opened it up: Tissues, nailΒ  poish, condoms, … where is the medi… WAIT………CONDOMS!?!?!? I think I was standing there for felt 10 hours, the drawer still in one hand, dropped jaw, big protruding eyes and not moving an inch, thousands of thoughts rushing through my head. What made it even worse was the fact that the box was already opened up which I saw without touching it. Fotolia_59257033_S-848x535 Let’s recall: I was in charge for guinea pigs which I did not even want nor did I allow my daughter to have them. That was my husband but I had to drive to the veterinarian and take care when “little” Vanessa was not home. I get angry seeing all this dirt and mess in her room, cannot find this f%&* medicine and when I opened up this drawer to top this all I find an opened box of condoms!!! I was a little overwhelmed to say the least. Shall I call her? Shall I wait? Shall I talk to my husband or only to her first??? I decided to wait until she was home again which was already two days later. IMG_1634 I let her get upstairs and settle a little. When she came downstairs no one was around. I took the chance and I told her about the odyssey of finding this stupid medicine and that I opened a drawer on my search: “I did not find the medicine in there but something else….!”, I said, raising my eye brows, tapping my foot, and expecting her to blush knowing what I am talking about. But she seemed to be completely clueless. “Vanessa, that first drawer…. I found SOMETHING in there!!! What does that mean?” “Mom, you have to be more specific, I have no idea what you are talking about.” Now I got angry and it was an embarrassing moment as well to speak it out: “Vanessa, I found a box of condoms in there and it was even opened up.” – chirp – chirp – chirp – My daughter looked at me as if I had talked to her in some chinese dialect. All of a sudden her eyes and her mouth both opened up wide she sat down on the stairs and burst out laughing. Hello? Is she kidding me? She is supposed to feel guilty and give me an explanation. But instead she sits there and is almost peeing in her pants from laughing tears. huhnlacht “Mom, didn’t you see that there was stupid stuff written all over that box? I got that from my friends on my birthday and they deliberately opened it up and even removed one.” Holy joy, she was right…OK… I needed a coffee!

Oh gosh! I loved that so much! I would have done the same thing! Alex and her friend Lauren used to fill them with water. Can you believe the school had them in a basket in the office for kids to just take them? I feel the same way…but I’ve worked past condoms now we are on to other things that will certainly humble you in so so many way! Motherhood ain’t it great! πŸ˜›

Now I’m smiling again! That was so out of the blue. You know I had been reading his poetry. Some of it is a little more um shall I say detailed and makes me blush just reading it and I don’t blush! πŸ˜›

Oh girl you and me both! What a good lesson! I think that can go both ways. To not so highly of ourselves but TOO think highly as to not be down trodden it’s a balance for sure! I know this straggle! I’m right there with you! πŸ˜€
