Freestyle Writing Challenge

My inspiring WP angel, Ritu, from But I Smile Anyway invited me to my 3rd Freestyle Writing Challenge. I have to say that I am always a bit nervous. I have to write about a topic I don’t know in a language that is not my mother tongue. When I get stuck I somehow have to move on differently and that costs time.

Anyway it is a wonderful way for me to practice and thank Ritu a lot for that opportunity. She is one of the brightest lights her on WordPress and her smile and positive outlook shines through every post.

The Rules:

1. Open a blank document.
2. Set a stop watch timer to 5 or 10 minutes, whichever length you prefer.
3. Your topic is at the foot of this post BUT DO NOT SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT UNTIL YOU ARE READY WITH YOUR TIMER!!!
4. Once you start writing do not stop until the alarm sounds!  Do not cheat by going back and correcting spelling and grammar using spell check (it is only meant for you to reflect on your own control of sensible thought flow and for you to reflect on your ability to write with correct spelling and grammar.)
5. You may or may not pay attention to punctuation or capitals
6. At the end of your post write down the number of words to give an idea of how much you can write within the time Frame.
7. Put the whole document onto your post and nominate 5 others and give them a new topic. Remember to copy paste the rules in!

What you thought life would be like as an adult, when you were a kid!

That depends on which age as a kid. I guess when I was really small or until about 4 – 5 years I thought I would always be a kid and my parents would always be the adults. But the older I got the more I just thought how cool it must be being an adult since they may do everything. They can drive cars, go and come when they want. But most of all: The don’t need to go to school. Oh how I envied my mom most of all in winter when she waved good-bye still in the warm house and I had to go to school am 20 minutes way in the cold freezing air, still dark outside. Yes, I wanted to be an adult. And you know what. Right that is what I enjoy when my poor kids have to leave home on a cold dark winter morning and I can stay hin the warm house or sit in my warm car in the garage.

Anyway back to my thoughts. What I also thought was, that adults are the ones that say waht to do. When I am an adult then I can tell others what to do. I only wondered how they would tell each other what to do. I did not think too much about it. I just wanted to grow up and see all the restricted movies and not being told by my parents anymore when I had to be at home.

I have to say, that with my growing age I also learned that being an adult involves responsibility. I think I did not underestimate that. Because I was never overwhelmed when I was on my own and had to deal with adult stuff. I grew into it. I saw my father struggling with his company and many issues around. I was aware that being an adult is not a ride in a theme park. Once you are old enough then you had to go your way.

I remember when I moved out from home and in with my boyfriend. My father asked if they should leave the room for me.  Just in case it would not work out.  I said no. Even if it wouldn’t work out: Once moved out from the nest I will go my way. I did not care where it would lead at that time. It was like entering a new life.
